The BHCG reports performance scorecard results for first six months of 2014

The performance scorecard is intended to identify how the BHCG as a group and Humana are performing compared to baseline measures and benchmarks. Results for the first six months of 2014 compared to the first six months of 2013 include:

  • The Per Member Per Month allowed costs for self-funded employers, less catastrophic cases (>$50k), rose 2.5% on an annualized basis.
  • In-network utilization for inpatient and outpatient hospital and physician services for self-funded members rose to 95.3 percent, from 93.8 percent. For fully-insured members, in-network utilization dipped slightly from 98.3 percent to 97.5 percent.
  • Generic utilization of retail prescription drugs rose from 81 to 82 percent for self-funded employers and from 83 to 84 percent for fully insured employers.
  • Generic utilization of mail order prescription drugs rose from 77 to 81 percent for self-funded employers and from 78 to 82 percent for fully insured employers.
  • Member registration with MyHumana.com increased from 59 percent to 60 percent for self-funded employers (compared to 59 percent for Humana’s book of business) and from 50 percent to 52 percent for fully insured employers (compared to 46 percent for Humana’s book of business).

Results from the performance scorecard for all of 2014 on these metrics and others will be reported in mid-2015.
