Annual Meeting Recap

A Successful Kick-Off to 2020

2020 started out with a successful Annual Meeting for our organization, A Forum for Good, held January 28 at Fiserv Forum. More than 200 health care stakeholders joined us for a morning of information sharing and networking. The BHCG Leading Change, Creating Value Award was also presented. And judging by post-event survey results, attendees’ time at the event was well spent.

This year’s annual meeting theme, A Forum for Good, served as a nod to the morning’s venue, as well as a metaphor for the major initiative BHCG rolled out this past year, the Physician Value Study. We are sharing the Study’s results publicly because we know they  will provide an actionable and effective “Forum for Good” to support ongoing provider performance improvement and more effective health care decision-making – benefiting not only the more than 250,000 lives our member employers represent, but all health care stakeholders in the state of Wisconsin.

2020 Annual Meeting Highlights

After a brief summary of our organization’s successes in 2019, the focus of the meeting turned to data and the critical role it plays in helping health care purchasers identify and buy high value health care. Wisconsin Health Information Organization’s (WHIO) CEO Dana Richardson gave an overview of her organization and its critical role in the BHCG Physician Value Study and Asvin Srinivasan from GNS Healthcare presented a detailed look at the Study’s results.

The program also included:

  • A physician leader perspective on the Study from Dr. Paul Mueller of the Mayo Clinic Health System;
  • An employer perspective of the Study and how it aligns with the BHCG strategic plan from Dave Osterndorf (BHCG’s chief strategic consultant and actuary); and
  • A panel discussion of stakeholders who gave their thoughts on the mission, process and potential of the Physician Value Study. Panelists included Janet Lucas-Taylor from Northwestern Mutual, Dr. Mueller from the Mayo Clinic, Asvin Srinivasan from GNS and Dana Richardson from WHIO.

This year’s Leading Change, Creating Value Award was presented to WHIO data contributors, in recognition of their commitment to improving health care transparency, quality and cost efficiency through information-driven decisions. We believe it is absolutely critical for health care payers to contribute to the WHIO database to enhance the value of its data.

Thank you  to all who attended and contributed to the program. An executive summary, slides from the presenters and a photo gallery are available for review.
