BHCG cost results preview – the positive trends continue
Each year the BHCG reports its costs trend results in aggregate for both its self-insured and fully insured employers. We are pleased to report that again for 2011, BHCG cost trend results were well below many nationally reported trend results. This is, yet again, proof that BHCG strategies are working to mitigate cost trend. We will be reporting the specific results in the August edition of The Catalyst after sharing them with Steering and CEO Committees in the next several weeks. Stay tuned!

Highlights of Performance Scorecard
The 2011 performance scorecard is intended to identify how the BHCG as a group and Humana are performing compared to baseline measures and benchmarks. Some highlights include:

  • From 2010 to 2011, member registration with MyHumana.com increased from 56 percent to 57 percent for ASO but decreased slightly from 45 percent to 44 percent for fully insured companies (Humana’s book of business average = 43 percent).
  • Humana’s service unit exceeded all its 2011 performance goals for measures such as claims processing accuracy and turnaround time, telephone response time and call abandonment rates, and Rx mail order turnaround and dispensing accuracy.
  • In 2011, 55 percent of ASO employers offered a consumer directed health plan (CDHP) (compared with 32 percent of Humana’s book of business) while 27 percent of fully insured employers offered a CDHP (compared with 18 percent of Humana’s book of business).
