BHCG is pursuing a long-term strategy for changing the way health care is used, managed and delivered. Our goal is to develop a market-driven health care system. In such a system, educated consumers make choices using reliable information about the efficiency and effectiveness of the health care they receive. Providers would compete to meet patient needs by delivering care with the best outcomes at the best cost.
What We Believe
Collaborative partnerships and accountability by all parties are essential to making positive changes in the health care system. We seek collaborative relationships with our administrator, UnitedHealthcare, as well as with providers, consumers, and our employer members.
What We Do
No matter what health plan solutions employers elect, BHCG membership allows employers to join forces with a valuable resource and a way to effectively face the future together with a proven health care strategy. The BHCG is at the forefront of efforts to improve the value of health care -- both cost and quality. We offer members best practices sharing, valuable market insights, support, education and information -- along with many preferred vendor relationships and resources.
The BHCG also looks at opportunities for collective purchasing of health care services that allow us to use resources most effectively and contain costs. We believe consolidating benefits administration among our members is a way to move the market toward a more cost-effective, quality-driven health care system. We chose UnitedHealthcare as our benefits administrator because of its shared strong commitment to move the health care system from volume to value through robust consumer engagement tools and balanced provider and consumer accountability.
Consolidating administration allows BHCG to leverage the strength of our collective purchasing influence, to centralize data collection for better analysis, to ensure a consistent message to providers and consumers, and to allow us to develop and implement true partnerships.
