Continuing the Push for Health Care Quality and Cost Transparency

In my July letter, I talked about data being the key to increasing health care value. I mentioned the Hospital Price Transparency Study from the RAND Corporation that used data from self-funded employers and health plans in Wisconsin.

On September 24, BHCG, The Alliance and Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce were presenting sponsors (joined by co-sponsors Aon, Fond du Lac Area Businesses on Health, Hays Companies and Lockton Companies) of two virtual events when more than 325 employers, providers, brokers/consultants, other stakeholders and the media heard about the latest RAND study – RAND 3.0. The results were presented by Christopher Whaley, Policy Researcher at RAND Corporation, and event panelists discussed the implications of the results for Wisconsin and the country.

Golf Outing

Third Annual BHCG Golf Outing Raises Spirits and More Than $30,000 for Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers

On August 20 BHCG held its Third Annual Golf Outing at Ironwood Golf Course – On Course for the Clinic – to benefit the Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers. With the participation of one hundred golfers and the generous support of our sponsors, more than $30,000 was raised to benefit Sixteenth Street.

Data: The Key to Increasing Health Care Value

As I’ve shared with readers in the past, our organization’s strategic direction can be conveyed by a simple equation:  Analytics + Informed Guidance = Increased Value. Today I want to focus on the analytics portion of the equation, namely the critical importance data plays. Without access to reliable and valid data, it is impossible to measure the value of the health care employers are purchasing.
