Long-Term, Sustained Cost Savings for Employers and Plan Members

A 2003 study sponsored by the Greater Milwaukee Business Foundation on Health (GMBFH) found that health care costs in southeastern Wisconsin were 39% higher than the Midwest average. Recognizing that this disparity threatened the region’s economic competitiveness, CEOs from several of the area’s largest employers formed the Business Health Care Group (BHCG) to improve health care value and address rising costs. Since then, BHCG has worked to help employers and plan members achieve long-term, sustainable health care savings while fostering a more competitive health care marketplace in Wisconsin.

BHCG Centivo Partnership

Over the past two decades, BHCG has helped slow the growth of health care costs for member employers and the broader community, making Wisconsin a more competitive health care marketplace. That progress accelerated in 2022 when numerous BHCG member employers adopted the BHCG-Centivo high-performance health plan, a primary care-centered model designed to improve quality while lowering costs.

By changing how members access and navigate care, the BHCG-Centivo health plan has delivered meaningful savings for employers and their families. In 2025, Wisconsin BHCG member employers continuously enrolled in the plan achieved health care costs 16% lower than a nationally recognized industry benchmark.

This physician-guided model promotes preventive care, improves access to appropriate services, and reduces unnecessary spending—delivering long-term, sustainable savings for employers and plan members alike.
