Continued Commitment

A letter from the Executive Director

2022 was a very rewarding year for the organization as our efforts to lead change over the past couple of years saw fruition with the offering of the BHCG-Centivo high-performance health plan solution. We continue to be focused on increasing the value of health care in Wisconsin while demonstrating responsible corporate citizenship through our charitable endeavors and our highly successful educational symposiums via the Delivering Value Series. Highlights include:

Cumulatively, all these efforts demonstrate our continued commitment to responsible corporate citizenship and the community, while assisting employers in providing competitive health care benefits to their employees and their dependents.

BHCG-Centivo High-Performance Health Plan Solution Launch: A More Effective Utilization of Health Benefits

Effective January 1, 2022, BHCG and Centivo offered a high-performance primary care-centered health plan solution to self-funded employers in Wisconsin. It provides employers a way to deliver high quality, affordable health care to employees and their families by directing patients to high value providers and encouraging coordinated care through the use of primary care physicians.

The high-performance health plan solution includes broad, intermediate and value provider networks, known as WI-1, WI-2 and WI-3, respectively. It also features fully transparent administrative services, efficient claims processing, advanced cost controls, employer analytics and integrated stop loss.

Results for employers implementing Centivo in 2022 showed outstanding results.

New BHCG-Centivo Product Offerings to Complement the High-Performance Health Plan Solution

BHCG, in conjunction with Centivo, developed two new products in 2022 exclusively for member employers that complement the high-performance health plan solution.

Specialist Identification for Onsite/Near-Site Clinics

Utilizing Centivo’s referral portal, health care providers staffing member employers’ onsite or near-site clinics are now able to identify high value specialists throughout the state of Wisconsin – measured on both quality and cost efficiency metrics – to refer patients in need of additional services. These high value specialists were identified using the results of the second BHCG-sponsored Physician Value Study conducted by Aitia (formerly GNS Healthcare). The Study also revealed substantial savings opportunities if patients had seen high value specialists.

Level-Funded Product

Also in 2022, BHCG and Centivo began offering a level-funded product in Wisconsin. A level-funded product – tailored for employers with as few as 51 employees – is a type of health insurance that mimics a fully-insured plan while providing the key advantages that benefit larger self-funded employers. With a level-funded product, an employer pays a fixed monthly amount, typically set at a target of 110-120 percent of expected claims and expenses. An employer’s costs cannot exceed the monthly amount; instead, Centivo and its reinsurance partners are at risk for meeting expected cost targets. If an employer’s cost experience is better than the target amount, the employer receives a refund of the difference between their contribution and their actual cost experience.

Our Best in Class Strategic Partners

BHCG provides a variety of solutions for employers to manage their health care benefit programs more effectively. These solutions, offered by our best in class strategic partners at favorable contractual rates and terms, have been selected because of their alignment with our mission of improving the quality and cost efficiency of health care for our member employers, their employees and dependents along with the community.

In 2022, we maintained and strengthened our relationships with Centivo, Navitus Health Solutions, Quantum Health, Artemis by Nomi Health and Aitia (formerly GNS Healthcare). These employer solutions are integral to the BHCG value proposition.

Fifth Annual Golf Outing Benefits Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers

On August 18, 2022, we held our fifth annual golf outing, On Course for the Clinic, at Ironwood Golf Course to benefit Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers. With the participation of sponsors, more than 100 golfers, volunteers and individuals and organizations donating auction items, more than $50,000 was raised for Sixteenth Street. Over the past five years we have raised $150,000 to benefit Sixteenth Street through our annual golf outing.

A big thank you to our premier sponsors, including Platinum Sponsor Centivo, Gold Sponsor Greater Milwaukee Business Foundation on Health and Silver Sponsors Navitus Health Solutions, Quantum Health, the Milwaukee Business Journal and the Multhauf Foundation, Ltd. Milwaukee Business Journal

Sponsoring the Milwaukee Business Journal’s Power Breakfast Series

For the second year in a row BHCG and Centivo were proud sponsors of Milwaukee Business Journal Power Breakfast series. The business information and networking series features CEOs and other business headline makers in a unique Q&A format. The four events in the 2022 series were held at the Pfister Hotel. The series – presenting an opportunity for sponsors to provide opening comments at one event and exhibit at all the events – is an excellent vehicle to gain visibility with business community leaders.
