Employers of all sizes, whether fully insured or self-funded, can benefit from BHCG membership. BHCG activities are supported 100 percent through annual membership fees. Individual or Associate memberships are available as well as membership through a sponsoring organization.
Individual memberships are available to employers who have a minimum of 400 eligible participants, are self-funded and submit a joining fee. They may participate in all BHCG meetings and activities and have a voting right if they choose to offer BHCG's Medical Administrative Partner to their employees.
Associate memberships are available to employers who have less than 400 eligible participants and that join independently or through a BHCG sponsoring organization or employers that have over 400 eligible participants and join through a BHCG sponsoring organization or are not eligible for an Individual Membership. Associate members do not have a voting right but are allowed to access BHCG’s Medical Administrative Partner network and have access to information, educational materials and meetings of BHCG’s members as determined by the Executive Steering Committee. If an associate member joins through one of BHCG's sponsoring organizations, the one-time joining fee is waived however they still pay the annual, per-participant fees.
BHCG member employers pay a one-time joining fee as well as an annual fee per eligible participant. An “eligible participant” includes all active employees who are eligible to take their company sponsored health plan offering, regardless of carrier, even if an employee chooses not to enroll. The employee must reside or work within the twenty-two (22) eligible counties of Brown, Calumet, Dodge, Door, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Jefferson, Kenosha, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Milwaukee, Outagamie, Ozaukee, Racine, Rock, Sheboygan, Walworth, Washington, Waukesha, Waupaca, Waushara and Winnebago. An eligible participant will also include retirees if the retired employee is enrolled in the company sponsored health plan offering, regardless of carrier and resides within the twenty-two (22) eligible counties. If a retired employee waives coverage, the company will not be required to pay a participation fee for such retired employee. A “Company Member Sponsored Plan” is defined as a plan that requires the employer to file Form 5500, Annual Return/Report of Employee Benefit Plan.
