BHCG Conducts C-Suite Event

BHCG held its fourth in a series of C-Suite events on March 21. Hosted by Mary Ellen Stanek, Chief Investment Officer at Baird, attendees heard compelling presentations by Julie Schuller, MD – President & CEO, Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers, Joy Tapper - executive director, Milwaukee Health Care Partnership and John Prince, CEO of OptumRx. An executive summary of the afternoon's proceedings is available for review.

BHCG Hosts its Annual Spring Learning Program

On April 26 employers, brokers/consultants, health system representatives, politicians and community members attended BHCG's Spring learning program at the Italian Community Center. Attendees heard presentations from four individuals who have made a significant impact on the opioid conversation:

  • Shatterproof Founder, Chairman and CEO Gary Mendell
  • Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel
  • Wisconsin State Representative John Nygren (R-Marinette)
  • Michael Miller, MD - Director of Addiction Program Development and Training, Rogers Behavioral Health

BHCG Developing Opioid Communications Materials

On the heels of BHCG's Spring event concerning the opioid epidemic, BHCG will be developing and making available opioid communication materials for use by member employers and the community at large at no cost. The materials will focus on workplace and safety issues, education, prevention, employee benefits and assistance related to opioid dependence and abuse.

A variety of media will be considered for deployment, including:

    • Brochures/handouts/payroll stuffers
    • Direct mail
    • Intranet/site content
    • Presentations
    • Open enrollment/onboarding/training content
    • Videos
    • Email campaigns
    • Social media campaigns
    • Texting campaigns
    • Worksite materials
      • Posters
      • Clings
      • Table tents
      • Video monitor content
      • Promotional items

Audiences for the materials will include supervisors/managers, employees and their dependents and vendors. Watch for more information about the development of the communications materials in the coming months.

Check. Change. Control.® Initiative from the American Heart Association Available to Employers and Other Organizations

Nearly 80 million Americans have high blood pressure, putting them at higher risk for heart disease, stroke and kidney failure. The American Heart Association's Check. Change. Control. initiative is an evidence-based self-monitoring educational program to help people control their blood pressure.
