the Executive Director Report

It is with a great deal of gratitude and no small amount of emotion that I prepare to end my tenure as the Business Health Care Group’s first executive director and enter retirement at the end of this month. In this, my last executive director report, I wish it were possible to acknowledge and thank all those who have been responsible for the BHCG’s remarkable success over the last 12+ years. It has been my privilege to know and work with you all.

Serving the BHCG was not just a job to me – it was an invaluable opportunity to live out my passion for improving the value of health care delivered in our community. The commitment and willingness to be bold on the part of BHCG employers – from the CEO level on down – made it possible for us to drive meaningful change in our market together.  Real change can only happen when the employer community walks in unison. It is hard work and can be uncomfortable at times, but the results make it all worthwhile.

It is with great pleasure that I now turn the BHCG baton over to Mr. Geoffrey Schick, the BHCG’s new executive director. Geoff shares my passion and has watched our success closely, so I know he will serve you well. In fact, in the early days of the BHCG, he represented DaimlerChrysler on our Executive Steering Committee.

Geoff is an accomplished health care executive with approximately 20 years of experience in the industry and educational credentials that include an M.B.A. and a mediation and negotiation certificate from Harvard University’s School of Public Health. I am confident his commitment to health care improvement, as well as his education, knowledge and experience will provide the foundation for the BHCG’s continued success.

While it’s hard to say goodbye, I am looking forward to my next phase of life. Spending time with my husband, children and grandkids, traveling, golfing and playing competitive bridge will fill my days. Rest assured I will, however, attend every
BHCG annual meeting and keep abreast of the progress made by the BHCG in this next chapter under Geoff’s leadership. It has been a tremendous honor to serve the BHCG – its mission and all of you with whom I’ve worked will share a special place in my heart always.
